Marquetry
The technique of inlaying wood, stone, or metal to create designs and patterns has been used to tell narrative stories for centuries (furniture with marquetry was referenced in The Odyssey by Homer). These items seek to breath new life into this ancient technique, specifically using a 16th century approach of stacking and cutting several layers of wood veneer simultaneously to produce the inlaid designs.
Pewter Hooks
ArchivePlayful designs with geometrically rigid tubes. Inspiration includes the flat treatments, bright colors, and solid shapes of the Memphis group, Medieval gate design, and the shape of toothpaste when it's extruded through its tube.
Each hook is first either 3d modeled or sculpted in clay, then molded and individually cast in pewter. They are finally then coated in vehicle-grade enamel or tumble polished.
